• Circa 1850 raw linseed oil contains only raw linseed oil and does not contain any solvents or other additives. Linseed oil, pressed from the seed of the flax plant, has been used for centuries to protect and beautify wood. Raw linseed oil can be used as a finish, or can be mixed with other varnishes or solvents to formulate custom finishes. Circa 1850 raw linseed oil can be used on food preparation surfaces and wood bowls, but Terra Nova Naturoil is recommended for cutting boards and butcher blocks.
